Kuga-Satake Correspondence

A Kuga-Satake correspondence is the standard Hodge-theoretic map from a polarized Hodge structure of K3 type into a tensor construction on the first cohomology of an associated abelian variety. Its algebraicity asks whether this specified map is induced by an algebraic correspondence. For a projective K3 surface S, put T=NS(S)Q^_|_ subset H^2(S,Q) with its cup-product form q. In the convention v^2=q(v,v), let W=C^+(T,q) be the full even Clifford algebra, realized as H^1(A,Q). For a rational nonisotropic w in T, the standard map is

 j_w:T(1)->End(W), j_w(v)(a)=vaw.

Here T(1) denotes the Tate twist. A chosen rational polarization of W converts this into a specified map T->W tensor W subset H^2(A×A,Q). Algebraicity requires a codimension-2 cycle on S×A×A inducing that map, with the prescribed normalization.
