Generalized Lax Conjecture

The geometric generalized Lax conjecture asserts that every closed hyperbolicity cone is a spectrahedron (Netzer and Sanyal 2015). For a cone set K subset= R^m, this means that there are real symmetric matrices A_1, ..., A_m of some common finite size with

 K={x in R^m:sum_(i=1)^mx_iA_i>=0}.

The assertion does not require the defining hyperbolic polynomial itself to be a determinant.
