Spectrahedron

A spectrahedron is a convex set specified by requiring an affine function of its variables with values in real symmetric matrices to be positive semidefinite (Netzer and Sanyal 2015). It has the form

 S={x in R^m:A_0+sum_(i=1)^mx_iA_i>=0},

where the matrices A_i have a common finite size. Such sets are the feasible regions of semidefinite programming. For example, the closed unit disk x^2+y^2<=1 is described by

 (1+x y; y 1-x)>=0.
