Curvature-Dimension Condition

The curvature-dimension condition CD(K,N) is a synthetic lower Ricci curvature bound K and upper dimension bound N for a metric measure space, expressed by entropy inequalities along optimal transport geodesics. For K=0 and finite N>1, one uses the power entropy functional S_(N^')(rhom)=-intrho^(1-1/N^')dm. For any two absolutely continuous probability measures with bounded support, there must be a Wasserstein geodesic (mu_t) satisfying

 S_(N^')(mu_t)<=(1-t)S_(N^')(mu_0)+tS_(N^')(mu_1)

for 0<=t<=1 and every N^'>=N, with the usual extension of the entropy to singular measures. For nonzero K, the coefficients are replaced by the distance-dependent comparison coefficients from the constant-curvature model. On a smooth n-dimensional Riemannian manifold with its volume measure, the condition for N>=n is equivalent to Ric>=Kg. The unreduced condition here is distinguished from the variant CD^*(K,N). Combining it with quadratic Cheeger energy defines RCD(K,N).
