BFSS Model

The BFSS model is the supersymmetric matrix quantum-mechanical model of Banks, Fischler, Shenker, and Susskind (Banks et al. 1997), with nine bosonic matrix coordinates and sixteen fermionic components per matrix generator. In the relative SU(N) model, the bosonic coordinates are traceless Hermitian matrices, removing the free center of mass. Its physical Hilbert space is the invariant subspace of L^2(R^(9(N^2-1))) tensor F_N under simultaneous conjugation, where F_N is the finite-dimensional fermionic Clifford module. The nonnegative quantum Hamiltonian is defined by closing the supercharge quadratic form q(Psi)=sum_(alpha=1)^(16)||Q_alphaPsi||^2/16. Its bosonic potential is quartic in matrix commutators and vanishes for commuting matrix coordinates.
