Two-Tailed Test

A two-tailed test is a statistical test whose rejection region is divided between both tails of the null distribution. It is used when departures from the null hypothesis in either direction count as evidence against the null. For a test of size alpha with symmetric tails, each tail commonly has probability alpha/2.

A two-tailed test is also called a two-sided test.
