Operator Algebra Crossed Product

An operator algebra crossed product adjoins operators implementing a group action to an operator algebra. For an action alpha of a discrete group G on a unital C*-algebra A, its full crossed product is generated by A and implementing unitaries satisfying

 u_gau_g^*=alpha_g(a).

It is universal for covariant representations, while the reduced crossed product is obtained from the regular representation. For amenable groups these constructions agree. An action on a von Neumann algebra also has a von Neumann crossed product, formed using the regular representation and weak closure. For a homeomorphism h of a compact Hausdorff space X, C(X)×AdjustmentBox[│, BoxMargins -> {{-0.27, 0.13913}, {-0.5, 0.5}}]_hZ uses alpha(f)=f degreesh^(-1). For the trivial action of Z on C, the crossed product is C(S^1). Modular actions of R give continuous cores of von Neumann algebras.
