Group Homology

The group homology H_n(G,M) of a group G with coefficients in a right G-module M is the nth left derived functor of the coinvariants functor. The coinvariants are the quotient group M_G=M/<mg-m:m in M, g in G>, where the denominator is the additive subgroup generated by the indicated differences. In particular, H_0(G,M)=M_G. It may be computed by taking the module tensor product over the group ring Z[G] of M with a projective resolution of Z as a left Z[G]-module with trivial G-action, and taking the homology of the resulting chain complex.
