Covector


A covector on a vector space V over a field K is a linear functional

 alpha:V->K.

The set V^* of all covectors on V is the dual vector space. If {e_i} is a basis of a finite-dimensional vector space, the dual basis {epsilon^i} is characterized by epsilon^i(e_j)=delta_j^i. A Riemannian metric identifies vectors and covectors through the musical isomorphisms.
