Least Squares Fitting
A mathematical procedure for finding the best-fitting curve to a given set of points by minimizing the sum of the curve's squared offsets from the data.
Least squares fitting is a college-level concept that would be first encountered in a probability and statistics course. It is an Advanced Placement Statistics topic.
