A scatter diagram is a graphic which shows data where one variable has been plotted against a second variable. Scatter diagrams are used when investigating correlation between two variables.
Scatter diagram is a high school-level concept that would be first encountered in a probability and statistics course. It is an Advanced Placement Statistics topic and is listed in the California State Standards for Grade 7.
