Unipotent Completion

The rational unipotent completion of a group Gamma is the universal pro-unipotent algebraic group Gamma^(un) over Q equipped with a group homomorphism Gamma->Gamma^(un)(Q). Every group homomorphism Gamma->U(Q) for a finite-dimensional unipotent algebraic group U over Q factors uniquely through a morphism of algebraic groups Gamma^(un)->U. Its canonical c-step quotient is universal for targets of nilpotency class at most c.
