Solution Set

The solution set of an equation or system of equations is the set of all values of its variables in a specified domain that satisfy every equation. For an equation F(x)=0 over a domain D, it can be written

 {x in D:F(x)=0}.

The solution set is empty for an inconsistent equation and equals the entire domain for an identity in one variable.
