Solomon-Yau Least-Volume Conjecture

The Solomon-Yau least-volume conjecture asserts that a closed connected smooth minimal hypersurface immersed in the unit sphere S^(m+1), with m>=2, that is not a totally geodesic submanifold has volume at least

 a_m=min_(1<=k<m)Vol_m(S^k(sqrt(k/m))×S^(m-k)(sqrt((m-k)/m))).

The comparison examples are the minimal Clifford hypersurfaces. Volume is measured on the domain of the immersion with its induced metric, including covering multiplicities. For m=2, the threshold is 2pi^2.
