Self-Shrinker

A self-shrinker for mean curvature flow is a submanifold whose mean curvature vector satisfies

 H+1/2X^_|_=0,

where X^_|_ is the normal projection of the position vector. It generates the solution M_t=sqrt(-t)M_(-1) for t<0. With the trace normalization of mean curvature, a round n-hypersphere of radius sqrt(2n) centered at the origin is a self-shrinker. In R^3, the round sphere of radius 2 and the right circular cylinder of radius sqrt(2) are examples.
