Reaction Network

A reaction network is a finite directed graph whose vertices, called complexes, are vectors in Z_(>=0)^d and whose directed edges are reactions y->y^' (Boros and Hofbauer 2020). The nonnegative integer coordinates of a complex give its species multiplicities. For example, 2A+B is the complex (2,1) in a two-species network. Each reaction determines the vector y^'-y, and their vector space span is the stoichiometric subspace. Assigning positive rates and using the monomials x^y yields a mass-action system. A weakly reversible reaction network has a directed return path for every reaction.
