Morava K-Theory

Morava K-theory K(n) at a prime p and positive integer height n is the generalized homology theory with coefficient ring

 K(n)_*=F_p[v_n,v_n^(-1)],

where degv_n=2(p^n-1). The height-zero convention is rational homology, K(0)=HQ. For a nonzero finite p-local spectrum, its chromatic type is the least n for which its K(n) homology is nonzero. Localization L_(K(n)) retains the height-n information and is different from localization at the sum of all heights through n. It is used in sphere finiteness and chromatic fixed-point loss.
