Mesh Generation


Mesh generation is the construction of a mesh that discretizes a geometric domain or approximates a geometric object. A mesh-generation algorithm chooses cells, their incidences, and their geometric coordinates while respecting the boundary and any prescribed internal features of the domain.

Typical requirements include bounds on mesh size, cell-shape quality, and conformance. A conforming mesh has cells that meet along complete shared faces. Common special cases include triangle meshes, tetrahedral meshes, and meshes used by the finite element method.
