Canonical Free Energy

Canonical free energy is minus the logarithm of a fixed-particle-number partition function divided by inverse temperature. For classical particles in a cube Lambda_L of volume L^3, with pair energy U_N and position measure independent of beta, use

 Z_(L,N)(beta)=1/(N!)int_(Lambda_L^N)e^(-betaU_N)dx_1...dx_N.

At density rho>0, its thermodynamic free-energy density is

 f(beta,rho)=-1/betalim_(L->infty)L^(-3)lnZ_(L,|_rhoL^3_|)(beta),

when the limit exists, where |_x_| is the floor function. The cubes have free boundary conditions and no temperature-dependent factor is included in the position measure.
