A wedge tetrahedron is a nearly flat tetrahedron with one close pair of vertices, while the remaining
two vertices lie away from that pair and from
one another (Cheng et al. 2012, p. 25; Hannukainen et al. 2017,
p. 3).
In the degenerate limit, the close pair coalesces and the three distinct limiting positions form a triangle.
This is one of the qualitative nearly flat shape types used in tetrahedral
mesh classification.
