Verma Module

A Verma module is a highest-weight module for a complex semisimple Lie algebra. Given a Cartan subalgebra h, a Borel subalgebra b containing h, and a weight lambda in h^*, the Verma module is the induced module

 M(lambda)=U(g) tensor _(U(b))C_lambda,

where U denotes the universal enveloping algebra and C_lambda is the one-dimensional b-module on which h acts by lambda and the nilpotent radical of b acts by zero. Every highest-weight module of highest weight lambda is a quotient module of M(lambda), and M(lambda) has a unique irreducible quotient module.
