Torsion Coset

A torsion coset in an abelian variety A is a translate B+tau of an abelian subvariety B by a torsion point tau. The translating point has finite order in the group A. For B={0}, a torsion coset is a single torsion point. An arbitrary translate by a nontorsion point need not be a torsion coset.

Torsion cosets are the special subvarieties in the abelian formulation of the Zilber-Pink conjecture. Every irreducible subvariety has a unique smallest torsion coset containing it.
