Strong Arnold Property

The strong Arnold property for a real symmetric matrix M indexed by the vertices of a simple graph G means that the only real symmetric matrix X satisfying MX=0, X_(vv)=0 for all vertices v, and X_(uv)=0 whenever u and v are adjacent is X=0. An invertible matrix automatically has the strong Arnold property.

The condition is part of the definition of the Colin de Verdière invariant, which maximizes nullity over a restricted class of symmetric matrices.
