Stably Finite C^*-Algebra

A stably finite unital C*-algebra is a unital C*-algebra A such that every isometry in every matrix algebra M_n(A) is unitary. In other words,

 v^*v=1 ==> vv^*=1

for v in M_n(A) and every positive integer n. The matrix-level condition is stronger than asking this only in A. A faithful tracial state implies stable finiteness, but stable finiteness does not supply a chosen trace.
