Riesz Basis

A Riesz basis of a Hilbert space is the image of an orthonormal basis under a bounded invertible linear operator. Equivalently, a complete family (f_j) is a Riesz basis when there are constants 0<A<=B<infty such that

 Asum_(j)|c_j|^2<=||sum_(j)c_jf_j||^2<=Bsum_(j)|c_j|^2

for every finitely supported scalar family (c_j) (Christensen 2016). Completeness is required, since the inequalities alone define a Riesz sequence.

A Riesz basis need not be orthogonal. For exponential functions in L^2(S), the corresponding frequency set is a Riesz spectrum.
