Prime Field

A prime field is a field with no proper subfields. Every field contains a unique prime subfield, which is isomorphic to the field of rational numbers Q in field characteristic zero, or to the finite field GF(p) in field characteristic p, where p is prime (Milne 2022, p. 9).
