Polynomial-Growth Harmonic Function

A polynomial-growth harmonic function of order at most k on a complete Riemannian manifold is a harmonic function u for which

 |u(x)|<=C_u(1+d(o,x))^k

for a fixed base point o and some finite constant C_u. Let h_k(M) be the dimension of this vector space. On Euclidean space R^n, these are precisely the harmonic polynomials of degree at most k for a nonnegative integer k, giving

 h_k(R^n)=(n+k; n)-(n+k-2; n),

where the second term is zero for k<2. In dimension three this is (k+1)^2. The harmonic dimension comparison conjecture concerns these dimensions under nonnegative Ricci curvature.
