One-Parameter Subgroup

A one-parameter subgroup of a Lie group G is a smooth group homomorphism h:(R,+)->G. Thus h(s+t)=h(s)h(t) and h(0) is the identity element. Every element v of the Lie algebra g=T_eG determines exactly one such group homomorphism with h^'(0)=v, given by h(t)=exp(tv) using the exponential map (Etingof 2020, pp. 44-45).

A one-parameter subgroup need not be injective. For the unit circle as a Lie group, h(t)=e^(it) has period 2pi. The term refers to this parametrized group homomorphism, whose image is a subgroup of G.
