Odd Cycle Decomposition

An odd cycle decomposition of fixed length l is a graph decomposition into cycle graphs C_l, where l>=3 is odd. Necessary divisibility conditions are that every vertex degree is even and that l divides the edge count. A graph satisfying these conditions is called C_l-divisible (Hou et al. 2026).

Hou et al. (2026) proved that, for every fixed odd l>=3 and every epsilon>0, all sufficiently large n-vertex C_l-divisible simple graphs G with

 delta(G)>=(l/(2l-2)+epsilon)n

have such a decomposition, where delta(G) is the minimum vertex degree. The coefficient l/(2l-2) is best possible. Their new cases are l=5, 7, ..., 71, completing the thresholds for all fixed odd lengths. For l=3, this coefficient is 3/4. Hou et al.
