Neighborhood System

The neighborhood system of a point x in a topological space X is the family N(x) of all neighborhoods of x. It is upward closed, every finite intersection of its members belongs to N(x), and every member contains x. In addition, if N in N(x), then some M in N(x) satisfies N in N(y) for every y in M. Conversely, families satisfying these neighborhood axioms determine a unique topology on X.
