Naimark's problem asks whether a C*-algebra whose nonzero irreducible representations are all unitarily equivalent must be isomorphic to the algebra of compact operators on a Hilbert space. A C*-algebra representation is irreducible when it has no nonzero proper closed invariant subspace. Unitary equivalence means that a unitary transformation intertwines the representations.
