Logarithmic Sobolev Inequality

A logarithmic Sobolev inequality for a probability measure mu on R^n bounds the entropy of the square of a function by its gradient energy. In one normalization, it has the form

 Ent_mu(f^2)<=Aint_(R^n)||del f||^2dmu,

for every smooth function f with compact support, where A is a nonnegative constant and del f is the Euclidean gradient. For a nonnegative integrable function g, the entropy functional is

 Ent_mu(g)=intglngdmu-(intgdmu)ln(intgdmu),

with 0ln0=0.

A random vector X in R^n is linearly a-subgaussian for a>0 when every unit vector u satisfies Eexp(<X,u>^2/a^2)<=2. This is a uniform subgaussian random variable condition on the one-dimensional projections.
