Lag

Lag is a term for a displacement or delay relative to a reference value or time. Its mathematical uses include the following:

1. A time series lag relates a current observation to an observation at an earlier time.

2. The lag theorem for the Laplace-Carson transform describes the transform of a shifted function.

3. A lag system is a computational system in which a replacement can depend on more than the first element of a sequence.
