Global Spherical Shell Conjecture

The global spherical shell conjecture asserts that every connected minimal compact complex surface of class VII with positive second Betti number contains a global spherical shell. In the numerical formulation its hypotheses are

 b_1(X)=1, b_2(X)>0, kappa(X)=-infty,

with no smooth rational curve of self-intersection -1. The conclusion supplies a biholomorphic image of a neighborhood of S^3 in C^2\{0} with connected complement.
