Generalized Mukai Conjecture

The generalized Mukai conjecture asserts that a positive-dimensional smooth connected complex Fano manifold of dimension n, Picard number rho_X, and pseudoindex iota_X satisfies

 rho_X(iota_X-1)<=n,

with equality precisely when

 X=(P^(iota_X-1))^(rho_X).

It strengthens the index formulation by using the smallest anticanonical rational-curve degree instead of divisibility in the Picard group.

When iota_X=1, the inequality is strict since n>0.
