Entropy Conjecture

Shub's entropy conjecture, in its general C^1 self-map formulation, asserts that a continuously differentiable map f of a closed manifold M satisfies

 h_(top)(f)>=lnrho(f_*),

where h_(top) is topological entropy and rho is the spectral radius of the induced linear operator on the direct sum of the real singular homology groups H_k(M;R). The inequality holds for C^infty maps (Yomdin 1987).
