The diagonal relation on a set
is the binary relation
It relates each element of
only to itself and is therefore the equality relation on
. In a coherent configuration,
the diagonal relation is a union of its basis
relations; it is one basis relation iff
the coherent configuration is homogeneous
(Higman 1975).
