Diagonal Relation

The diagonal relation on a set X is the binary relation

 Delta_X={(x,x):x in X}.

It relates each element of X only to itself and is therefore the equality relation on X. In a coherent configuration, the diagonal relation is a union of its basis relations; it is one basis relation iff the coherent configuration is homogeneous (Higman 1975).
