Courtade-Kumar Conjecture

The Courtade-Kumar conjecture asserts that a single coordinate is a most informative Boolean function under a binary symmetric channel (Kumar and Courtade 2013). For n>=1 and a Boolean function f:{-1,1}^n->{-1,1}, let X have the uniform distribution on {-1,1}^n and put Y_i=X_iZ_i with independent signs Z_i, also independent of X, and Pr(Z_i=-1)=p for 0<=p<=1. The assertion is

 I(f(X);Y)<=1-h_2(p),

where I is mutual information, h_2(p)=-plog_2p-(1-p)log_2(1-p) is binary Shannon entropy, 0log_20=0, and I is measured in bits. Equality holds for f(x)=+/-x_i.
