Convex Body Support Function

The convex body support function of a convex body K subset R^n is the function

 h_K(u)=max_(x in K)<x,u>,

where <x,u> is the Euclidean inner product. For a unit vector u, it gives the signed distance from the origin to the supporting hyperplane with outward normal vector u. The function determines K uniquely and satisfies h_K(tu)=th_K(u) for every t>=0. For the unit ball, h_K(u)=||u||, where ||u|| is the Euclidean norm. Convex body support functions add under Minkowski sum.
