Combinatorial Design

A combinatorial design is a finite incidence structure whose selected subsets, called blocks, satisfy prescribed balance conditions. A t-(v,k,lambda) design has v points, blocks of size k, and exactly lambda blocks through every set of t points. Block designs, Steiner systems, and Latin squares are central examples.
