Brown-Peterson Spectrum

The Brown-Peterson spectrum BP at a prime p is the p-typical summand of p-local complex cobordism. In its usual coefficient convention,

 BP_*=Z_((p))[v_1,v_2,...],

where degv_i=2(p^i-1). The truncated spectrum BP<n> has coefficient ring Z_((p))[v_1,...,v_n]. Morava K-theory isolates a chromatic height, whereas Smith-Toda complexes realize finite quotients killing p and an initial string of these generators. A specification of BP homology as a comodule includes its coaction as well as its underlying graded module.
