Binomial Test


The binomial test is an exact statistical test of a success probability p based on the number X of successes in n independent Bernoulli trials. Under the null hypothesis p=p_0, X has the binomial distribution

 P(X=k)=(n; k)p_0^k(1-p_0)^(n-k).

A one-sided P-value is the appropriate upper or lower binomial tail. A two-sided P-value requires a stated ordering of outcomes; common exact conventions need not give identical values because the binomial distribution is discrete.
