Bi-Lipschitz Map

A bi-Lipschitz map f:X->Y between metric spaces is a map for which constants 0<c<=C<infty satisfy

 cd_X(x,x^')<=d_Y(f(x),f(x^'))<=Cd_X(x,x^')

for all x,x^' in X. It is injective, and both f and its inverse on its image are Lipschitz functions. A surjective bi-Lipschitz map is also called a Lipschitz isomorphism of the metric spaces. For Banach spaces, no linearity is included in this terminology. When X has at least two points, the metric embedding distortion is the product of the Lipschitz constants of f and its inverse on the image.
