The angle of elevation is the angle from a horizontal line upward to a line of sight. In the figure, is the observer,
is the observed point, and
is the angle of elevation. If the horizontal lines
through the observer and the observed point are parallel, the angle of elevation
equals the corresponding angle of depression
by the alternate interior angle theorem.
