The angle of depression is the angle from a horizontal line downward to a line of sight. In the figure, is the observer,
is the observed point, and
is the angle of depression. If the horizontal lines
through the observer and the observed point are parallel, the angle of depression
equals the corresponding angle of elevation
by the alternate interior angle theorem.
