Trivial Representation

The trivial representation of a group G on a nonzero vector space V is the group representation rho:G->GL(V) defined by

 rho(g)=I_V

for every g in G. When V is one-dimensional, this is the trivial group character. A nonzero vector in an arbitrary representation spans a trivial subrepresentation iff it is fixed by every element of G.
