Strong Ulam Stability

Strong Ulam stability of a countable discrete group G is uniform stability of approximate unitary representations on all complex Hilbert spaces, including infinite-dimensional ones. For a map mu:G->U(H) with mu(1)=I, its multiplication defect is

 def(mu)=sup_(g,h in G)||mu(gh)-mu(g)mu(h)||.

Stability means that for every epsilon>0 there is a delta>0 such that defect at most delta implies the existence of a unitary representation pi on the same H with

 sup_(g in G)||mu(g)-pi(g)||<epsilon.

The norm is the operator norm, and delta must work for every Hilbert space.
