A square dipyramid is a dipyramid with a square base. The octahedron is a special case of a square dipyramid with equal edge lengths. The volume of a square dipyramid with base edge lengths a and height h is given by

V_n=1/6ncot(pi/n)a^2h=2/3a^2h.
