Sphere Order

A sphere order is a partially ordered set which can be represented by closed balls in some finite-dimensional Euclidean space, with x<=y iff the ball representing x is contained in the ball representing y. For balls with centers c_x,c_y and radii r_x,r_y, this condition is

 x<=y<==>||c_x-c_y||<=r_y-r_x,

where ||·|| denotes the Euclidean norm.

Meyer (2026) proved that the Boolean lattice B_6 is not a sphere order, in any finite dimension. Thus not every finite partially ordered set admits such a representation.
