Seminormal Scheme

A seminormal scheme is a scheme whose affine coordinate rings are seminormal. A ring A is seminormal when, for x,y in A with x^3=y^2, there is a unique a in A satisfying x=a^2 and y=a^3. This property is local and implies that the scheme is reduced (Stacks Project n.d.). For example, C[t^2,t^3] is not seminormal, since x=t^2 and y=t^3 require a=t, which does not belong to this ring. Seminormality is one of the hypotheses on the underlying scheme of a semi-log canonical pair.
